  • Sitka Fine Arts Camp presents "A Night of Dance and Jazz," featuring the faculty of the summer Jazz Workshop and Dance Intensive along with students from the programs. 7pm at the Sitka Performing Arts Center.

Featured faculty include Christian Fabian, leader of the Jazz Workshop and frequent recording artist and bass player with the Lionel Hampton Big Band; Tierney Sutton, grammy-nominated vocalist; Mike Longo, pianist for Dizzy Gillespie; dancer Danny Ryan, formerly with Kansas City Ballet and Wunderbound; and Adam McKinney, formerly with Alvin Ailey and Lines Ballet. Ryan and McKinney lead the Dance Intensive.

Part of what will make this evening special is its mix of professional and pre-professional performance in dance and music. "It is more important now than ever that people see the arc of the arts. When people see professionals perform they often forget their start as young people."

-Danny Ryan
